Default 1994 wont kick down

I have a 1994 f150 2 wheel drive. It shift up fine, but will not kick down when I give it gas. It does not matter what gear it is in.5.0 motor. Anyone have any suggestions?

does it have a kickdown cable ? it would go from the throttle body to the trans. if it has one it may be broken or needs adjusted.

In 1994 with a 5.0L I believe it should have a E4OD or a 4R70W, both are electronically controlled trans, but maybe a AOD hydraulically controlled? Easiest way to tell if you did not find a cable on the throttle body, look at the drivers side of the trans. It will either have one or 2 levers with cables hooked to them. One lever, its electronic, 2 levers it is hydrualically controlled.

The AOD has a TV cable not a kick down cable. The TV cable is very sensitive to adjustment, you can easily burn the trans if it is adjusted too loose. The adjustment is on the throttle body opposite the throttle cable.

If it is electonic and not "kicking down" its because the computer does not think it needs to. 1st question - does the speedometer work correctly, the computer gets its speed signal from the PSOM. Next most likely is the Manual Lever Position Sensor. It is on the shift shaft of the trans. If so you will likely need a scan tool and monitor the TPS, MAP and MAF(if equipt)

I have the same problem with my 91 it just does not want to come out of OD. Have to really gas it to get to downshift. Have 5.8 with e40d.
