what else should i check? I`ve change the high pressure pump the fuel filter the low pressure pump in the rear tank, both pumps come on but im not getting gas past the duel action reservoir. i unhooked the line going into the reservoir and gas comes out fine but does not pass through the reservoir. the front tank is not in use

Sounds like an O-ring crawled out of it's seat & wedged the valve between tank settings.

another question. If the tank pump fills up the reservoir would it flow out of the outlet side or does the high pressure pump need to pull it out?

Pressure from the low pressure pump, (if diverter is functioning properly) changes the flow from & return to that tank. Feeding the H/P pump on the frame rail. which then steps up pressure to the next component, the Fuel pressure regulator.

Something to try. W/ key on, Smack the diverter valve w/ a wrench a couple times.

Also, leave the switch in the same position, but swap the tank out & return lines. Possible it's stuck w/ the other tank's ports open.

Or pull a diverter valve off a 87'-89' E or F series, bronco, ect...at a junk yard. $10-$15.

i by-passed the reservoir with some home made nipples made in our shop, and the truck started right up and ran fine. my concern now is what damage will occur without the reservoir being hooked up. The parts store said they found a replacement reservoir for a whopping 400 bucks. I just use the truck to and from work
