Looking forward to watching the results. I am doing my first paint job this summer on my truck after I do the body work. I'm going with the OEM color to keep it simple for me.

I'm not the best body man, but make sure you spend time doing the body work and try to get it as best you can,if not it will be very very noticeable when you put a fresh shine on your truck. Make sure you have quite a few good passes of primer/ filler on your bondo and sanded down smooth before you paint, I learned my lesson the hard way on my first car about 5 years ago.

Thanks for the tips. That filler primer is a good friend. I have mild experience with body work, just not great or fast at it. I've re done the rockers and dog legs on my explorer sport but i painted with bedliner so i did not need to be careful with the fine grit sanding. But it came out really good. I did a fender, bumper and quarter panel on a car before too using the duplicolor spray paint stuff and that came out decent, couldn't see any of my bondo lines.

I'm either painting this beast in the yard or in a portable carport thing. I don't have a booth.

If you above the molding you can see the bed crinkle j was talking about, it's hard to see in the picture. Any suggestions on where to start? Thanks

When I was in the votech for my high school I had to pull a dent from a bed similar to this. The way I took it out by pulling it with a sliding hammer. I first removed all the paint off and around the dent. Then welded pins from the outside of the dent and slowly worked my way to the center of the dent. Slightly pulling on the pins and working the edge of the dents with a body hammer on the outside of the dents. Then in the middle I just used the sliding hammer till it looked equal. Just take your time and with that I'm sure it will look good

I unmasked it and pulled it out the spray room this morning, now I need to get the bed finished and get rid of all that purple tint!

And that's no buffing or anything, just paint?
