Instrument Bezel mystery
RE: 1995 F150 Flareside 4X2, 5.0L extended cab, Choo Choo Custom, etc.
I have a rocker switch, and indicator light located on the right side of the instrument cluster. this switch is located in the area where, I think, the switch is located to place the truck in 4 wheel drive. However my truck is a 4X2. The rocker switch has an LED status light on it, plus an inch or so to the left is another larger LED light. The switch does not appear to do anything, The indicator light on the switch, and the larger one to the left, do not light when I toggle the switch. Was there another function for this switch, or do I have the instrument bezel intended for the 4X4 installed.
Merry Christmas everyone

No Pain, No Pain!
I bought my 96 F150 on eBay from a dealer near Philadelphia, PA.
It came with an after-market alarm system from Clifford. There is a
large red led button that flashes when the alarm is on. I think this is
intended to alert potential thieves that there is an active alarm system
so they might move on to another vehicle. There is also a small black
rocker switch. It took me a while to figure out what it was for. After
acquiring a manual for the Clifford alarm system, one didn't come with
the truck, I discovered that the rocker switch is for setting/resetting
the different features of the alarm.
It allows you to enter a passcode by pressing the switch in a series of "clicks." For example, the passcode might be 2-5-7. You would press the switch up twice, quickly, then pause, then up 5 times, then pause, then 7 times. This tells the alarm computer that you are the owner and that you can now set certain features like how long before the alarm arms itself, called passive arming, or to disable that feature, etc. Just my luck, the previous owner didn't leave any information about what the passcode is/was so I cannot change how the alarm functions. Right now it is set to arm
itself after 30 seconds from when the doors are closed. This means that when I work on the truck, I must leave one of the doors open so the alarm won't arm itself. I know I could disconnect the battery cable, but then I would have to reset the radio and clock.
The switch and led might be leftover from when someone had an alarm on the truck. Perhaps the alarm was removed but they left those behind?

That explains it. The person I purchased the truck from told me he was forced to disable the alarm because it was too sensitive going off when somebody slammed a car door nearby, or by the high winds Cheyenne freqently gets.
Thank You
