Someone Help! My truck hates me.
So my 87 f150 runs decent. But once shes warmed up & you shut her off, she wont start again for about 30 min. A very strong smell of gas is released when you try starting her. Its like shes flooded but its fuel injected. I dont know what to do or where to start.

Well I would be checking to see if has spark when it does not want to start. Sounds like the TFI on the distributor might be getting hot and dieing out. Pull a plug when it won't start and lay it on the engine and see if it sparks when you crank the engine. BE careful and do not crank it a lot just enough to see if the plug sparks or not.

If you look on the inside fender driver side closer to the top of the fender near the fire wall for a small little fuse looking thing when the motor gets hot and won't start pull it out and it should fire right up.... my 94 ford did the same thing then finally died it was the module on the side of the distributor like the guy before me said...... He said it a lot better tho haha

I will try that tomorrow. It also has like no power at. My truck is a turd. I cant pass a Prius in it. Its pretty sad. We dont know what is causing this no power thing & we dont even know where to begin.

Check your distributor it might be wait out of time cause right after I fixed that module my truck didn't have power some how the distributor was way out of wack

The bolts on the distributor suck on those trucks. Seriously suck some %^%%$%$%%. Had an 88 had to re-time that stupid thing twice a month. First get it running right. Then we shall check the ignition timing. Most likely someone tried to fix this issue before and fubared it all up and messed with the distributor.
It can be fixed and don't worry the guys here are great. You have come to right place.

check the dist. cap for corrosion. my truck was dragging @$$ since I got it, then I dropped in a high output coil and new distributor cap and gained about 30% more power.
also, check your spark plugs to see if they are fouled. and make sure your plug wires are good
