X2

Just do it the right way and get the alternator tested

Also, if you have any more issues

Had the alternator tested and was told it was bad. I had the mechanic replace it and we will see. I have to work next few days so we will find out towards the weekend. Thanks to all for your ideas and help.

Remember the charging system is a chain. When one part starts failing it puts strain on the others. Test everything. Fix what's broken then test everything again. Look closely at wires and cables. A dirty connection can ruin a battery alternator and starter, then ruin the replacement parts.

Well new battery AND alternator did not fix the problem, died in the driveway. At least not far to walk this time. Mechanic has picked it again, this time has found a wire that has come loose from the alternator. 3 wire and he is looking up the wiring diagram to make sure it goes to where it is supposed to. We shall see if this is it, or next is a new distributor, or maybe a stick of TNT as I have had it for almost 9 months and have put less than 2000 miles on it.

I have the same truck but when mine dies and won't start (once every 2 months or so) I just jump the solonoid and it works fine. I keep a big screwdriver on me at all times lol

I really think you should check the inline fuses to make sure they are still good. A weak one will cause just this sort of thing. Just a thought.

Well a new distributor, 70 mile road trip, no stalls, shudders or anything but sweet sound of road going under the tires. Maybe, just maybe I can breath a sigh of relief, and begin to depend on my truck again. Thanks again for all the support and ideas, from those who replied.
