Default 95 5.0 Idle quality issues

I would really appreciate some input here. I'm more than a little stumped. Background 95 5.0 Auto trans 2WD, 190K, Truck is mostly original. Had poor fuel economy/driving issues. Started out by changing out O2. That helped some, then changed IAC, again helped some, so then changed out TPS, worse, So then changed MAF and IAT now for the first time the CEL is on and it runs even worse. I have to work tonight (sigh) but can work on it tomorrow (sat). I have not pulled codes up to now and plan to tomorrow. Truck was not abused just neglected. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Mark

Fuel filter?

If it sat too long, they can get unhappy and can be replaced easily. I would have told you TPS, IAC, Clean your Throttle, New fuel filter. Then pull codes etc. Are you having any issues with the electrical? If so it could be your alternator or AC condenser, which can also lead to belts.

Did you follow the proper procedure when replacing the TPS? Did you use a motorcraft TPS? Both of those steps are critical when replacing your TPS and if you didn't do one or both they will make the truck run horribly

I have a Factory shop manual for the truck. It didn't say anything about a procedure for replacing TPS on a 95. It is non adjustable. The part I bought was branded "Standard".
Was not aware that would have an impact on this beast.

When installed the TPS must be placed in then rotated so the mounting holes line up and the wires are facing the correct direction. Yes motorcraft brand matters on TPS, others work but can have issues, I wouldn't trash it yet, test voltage before you do anything, should read .9-.97.

2nd= 10= No mention in the book
3rd= 512= KAM Memory.......Keep Alive Memory?

Thoughts?

The 1 (sometimes shows as 10 on readers) designates the switch between active and memory codes.

More than likely a vac leak is causing your issues, the 4mm plastic lines are notorious for cracking. You will need a vac gauge and about 30 minutes, pull the lines from the tree on the manifold and apply vacuum, one probably will not hold vacuum and that is the set you need to work your way down until you can isolate the faulty line/component.

512-Memory power (PCM pin 1) was interrupted – Was battery disconnected?
definition from http://www.troublecodes.net/ford/

Check the connector for pin corrosion, spray pins with quick drying electronic cleaner ($4 at walmart-a can will last for a couple of years) then either brush with soft metal brush or fine grit sand paper/emery cloth. Respray pins and female connector, insert and remove a few times, this will clean the female end. That should get rid of the 512, if it doesn't you may have to check the wire coming from pin 1 to ensure it isn't damaged or loose in the connector.

Flt. Thanks.
The vac canister was cracked at the fittings. Both of them. and the purge valve sol. was gone completely. Got it fixed and running correctly.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks
Mark
