The last time I had a full service with all fluids being flushed was about 2 years ago or less. I checked the tranny fluid and its still pink, but I'll give the transtune a shot. I don't see how it can hurt.

I found the transtune website but it doesn'e mention stores where it is sold. Autozone? Napa? Kragen/O'Reily? Jegs? Anybody know?

As an update, I've had the transtune in for about a week now but everything has stayed the same. I have a slight leak from the transmission but the fluid level is good. One side note is that I lied about the problem not happening when overdrive is turned off, it does. I guess I just didn't put it under enough of a load before.

Sounds like the lockup clutch is worn out and chattering, the only fix is to replace the torque converter if it hasn't plugged the rest of the tranny up. Continued running in this condition will lead to the failure of the transmission.

I have the same problem on a 1993 5.8.... I bought the pickup with that problem and put about 25 000 on it up to date. it would do it only in top gear and when there is a load on the engine... when it kicks down or u let off the accelerator it is all quiet again....

Was thinking about running it till it breaks since it did so many miles already

That's exactly what I was feeling/thinking. But hopefully by replacing the torque converter I can avoid a bigger problem if I let it go until something breaks.

So the problem was...... the torque converter. Thanks to the guys who gave input on this. Even if the transtune did not solve the problem it still mended the small leak I had.

I had this same issue, all it was....a broken tranny mount, 12.99 at autozone. Go figure.
