Default '93 F150 Tranny Problem I think..

I'm glad I found this site, there's a whole bunch of good info on here.

Now to the problem. I have a 1993 XLT with a 351W with 175k on it, off the top of my head I can't remember which tranny I have. But it is a 4 speed with overdrive. I belive this problem is with the OD but i'm not sure. Whenever I am merging into highway traffic or going up a hill, at or around 55, the entire pick up begins to make a low toned vibration almost ad if I was running over rumble strips on the edge of the highway. It seems to have most of its power but not quite what it has through the 1st 3 or 4 gears. Once I get up to speed everything is back to normal. I noticed that if I am going up a hill, the gears kicking down solves the problem as well as when I turn the OD off. Does anybody have any recomendations before I take it into the shop or go searching junk yards for old OD's?
Thanks for your help.

E4OD Makes sense. I haven't lowered the truck at all, all the suspension is stock dimensions.

Interesting, it only happened in your higher gears? or did it happen in all of them?

That's weird... I would blame it on your pinion angel...

When was the last time you serviced it? Toss in a can of Transtune & see what happens. The #1 reason for tranny failure/ malfunction is still poor &/or lack of proper maintanance.

i have the exact same problem, + mine acts up horrible on the highway. I'm leaning towards the torque converter, but not 100%

Lean towards a can of "Transtune". Same company that makes "Seafoam". If their stock ever goes public, I'd buy that too! If you broke it, it won't fix it. But it many times aids in behavior modification!
