1986 Brakes
Hi,
I have an 86 Pickup and the brakes seem soft to me. I really have to press on them to get the truck to stop. If I am in 4 Low I really have to mash the brakes down to keep the truck from moving.
I recently rebuilt the rear drum breaks and replaced the leaking piston's in them. I also just replaced the front calipers with re-manufactured calipers. I also replaced the master cylinder.
I bled the brakes and I get a nice clear stream of brake fluid when I have the breaks pressed. But I still seem to have a soft pedal.
Could this be a bad brake booster? Is there anyway to test if the booster is working? When I have the brakes pressed I can hear a hissing sound in the cab.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Brian

Can you tell me how many lines I should have going to the Booster? I only see one line and it is on the top left hand side of the booster. It runs to the top of the engine.
How many others should I look for?
