Default 92 f150 302 5.0 ricking Noise (video)

92 f150 302 5.0 is making a ticking noise that changes with rpm. What is it?

Sounds like a lifter. However, an exhaust manifold leak can sound similar. It's hard to tell without being there.

If you've driven it like this did it feel at all like it might have a slight miss? Get a stethoscope and try to narrow down the area its coming from. Whichever side its coming from, pull that valve cover and check the rocker adjustment on all of them on that side. it could be several different things but that would be my first step of diag.

take a piece of hose and stick it to your ear.. that will pinpoint were its coming from, could be a busted manifold or manifold bolt, or a cracked rocker arm, or your lifters have a flat spot,, if the motor sat for a while and upon refire a backloading accured it could damage an old set of rockers but id start with the tried tru piece of hose to find out exactly were it is coming from if you press the hose to the valve cover and its in there, pull the covers,, if its more to the side were the manifolds are its the manifold either has cracked or a bolt has rusted busted... if you end up replacing manifolds, go to summit for 280 bucks set of headers with a an install kit I suggest hedman or stock replace but that's just dumb for 240 buck in my opinion last just as long

Man, I tried that, but it did not work...stuck that piece of hose right up next to my ear, and all I could hear was like wind blowing in my ear!!!!!
