So, as the title suggests, my exhaust has a little bit of fuel vapor in it. You can really only smell it when you're next to the car's tail pipe, otherwise there's no smell. I replaced my fuel injectors because of a misfire on cylinder 5 and low fuel pressure while running. I tested my FPR, and it appeared to pass all tests. No fuel in vac line and idle becomes erratic when removing vac line. My vacuum gauge didn't fit on the nipple, so I couldn't accurately test if it holds vacuum. I don't have an erratic idle, no hesitation or stumbling, and the car does well on inclines. It has power.

When I first got this truck, the previous owner told me that he'd replaced the thermostat, but I noticed the truck never reaches the middle of operating temp. It always stops right at N. Maybe it will reach O if I've been driving a while. I know I should check the thermostat, but I'm just wondering if ya'll recommend replacing the coolant temp sensors while I'm at it. I've heard that a bad coolant temperature sensor can cause a fuel smell. The sensor was caked in oil due to a push rod cover leak. I cleaned up the area after replacing the gaskets.

did you do any diagnosing to see if the sensors are actually bad? what is the actual coolant temp at normal operating temp? not just a reading on the dash

The manual says to short the ground. I'm not super good with electrical stuff. How exactly do I short the ground? Also, how do I check the actual coolant temp while the car's running?

So, is the thermostat the likely culprit for my rich mixture?

impossible to say 100% but if the engine never reaches normal operating temp, its a possibility.

as far as the T-stat 192* is the factory temp, get as close to that as you can. Make sure that if you get one from a parts house, you ask the temp options available. You put a too cold on in there, you will have the same problem
