8th gen need Skid Plates

I am new here and i looked though some threads and i couldn't find where i can get Skid plates for my truck.(1985 F150 4x4 C6 Trans) I just rebuilt my trans and kinda made the mistake of putting an aluminum pan on it and i want some added protection for it. Thanks in advanced to anyone that can help me.

Were there any scratches or dents in the original pan? Aluminum pans are MUCH stronger than steel ones, so I wouldn't worry about it. It wasn't a mistake, and a skidplate won't help much. The factory skidplate is so dinky it can be stomped flat after being dented by off-roading (I've done it a few times).

Your "where" question applies to you, too: put your location in your profile so we can give you local sources.

The aluminum is stronger. However, when they strike something substantial they will crack where the steel will dent. It's a toss up.

That's my exact worry, do you think its worth it to make one (which will take about 2 months between university and work) or continue to try and find a aftermarket one.

Have you ever broken an Aluminum casting? No, it's not worth it, unless the original steel one had big dents.

But even if there ARE; you're more likely to rip the transmission off its mount than to break a cast-Aluminum pan.
