Umm... Jerking? Did anyone ever stop to think it could be his transmission? Check the fluid, if its brown or smells burnt flush it out. Buildup in the tranny can cause the gears to have problems while shifting. Lets see... the clutches in between the gears could be worn bad... causing it to slip and jerk. if thats the case then youll need an overhaul... more $$$ you should know there is no cheap way to fix a transmission...

There is a difference between the clutch assembly and the clutches in between the gears of your transmission... The clutches im talking about are just basically thin pads that go inbetween the gears to reduce friction and what not. when they wear down the gears produce more friction and tend to cause the tranny to jerk hard when shifting... Trust me... ive seen this happen to my brother and his Allison transmission 4 times over the past 10 years...

Don't mean this to sound condescending but when you say the EGR seems OK, did you test the system? Same with the TPS and IAC and the ignition module and coil. There are test procedures for these parts. That's why I recommend a shop manual. You just look up the symptom and it will tell you what to test and how. It will save you days of hassle and a ton of cash.

Ok, My husband has a 2004, and it is jerking as well. It does it more often when in cruise, and then when we get to about 40 mph. It just started this about 3 months ago. And one other ?, is when we slow down it shakes really bad. The brakes are not making any noise, but we did go ahead buy brakes. We have had this truck about 6 years and it was doing it then, but not near as bad as now. Do either of these go hand in hand?. HELP please! Don't even know where to begin to look?
