battery has been removed since the truck has started last so it didn't freeze up. I located the harness to do the code test but never got around to it.

Put the battery back in and try to start the truck several times. Then check for codes. If there is a problem that is bad enough to store a code it will store it right away.

ended up finding someone with a fuel pressure guage, have 38psi with the key on engine off..

also got the truck started today, timing was off. when I changed the Ignition Module I had to lift the distributor a little bit and it must of been off a tooth or 2. actually runs better now

had my truck running... when the outside temp dropped truck wouldnt start and seemed like a dead battery at times. hooked the jumper cables up and still seemed like a dead battery.

the other day, it warmed up to mid 30's and when I got home it was about 27 out and the truck started and ran fine. next day with snow in the forcast, NOTHING! again got home tonight with the outside temp around 25 and it started up.. I came in the house for a few minutes while it warmed up only to back out and find it had stalled out. it cranked hard but started and soon as I took my foot totally off the gas, it stalled... no it dont want to start and cranks real hard even being jumped... wtf

this weekend I'm putting in a new Fuel filter and changing all 3 Battery Cables.. btw snow is in the forcast for this weekend also

fuel pumps are running when I turn the key on and with the hood open I hear a click from a relay also...

well i had a starting problem once and i heard the fuel pump turn on and everything and the first time it did it was it stalled out in a mud pit and would turn over but never start up so i popped the hood and was getin a lot of fuel pressure which i ruled out it wasnt blockage so then i thought water was some where where it wasnt supposed to be to i had a buddy of mine pull it home and i went to work and it turned out it was a loose wire that gives the fuel injector power and has 2 relays to it try that out

My vote is for the ignition module screwed to the distributor
or a loose wire/bad ground

It could also be the sensor inside the distributor
Any parts store can test the module and if that is fine then it could be that sensor and it is easier and cheaper to replace the whole dist than to try to relplace the sensor

Default hard starting

the hard starting is due to the timing being off!! Had the same issue when you moved the dist you altered the timing... may start fine when cold, then not when warm... or vice versa. you need to get the timing dead on, then remember to remove the spout connector to adjust the timing. then after it's all set to the specs on your emmision sticker then install the spout connector, you should be G T G

to recap this thread. I've replaced the Battery, Alternator, Cap, Rotor, Plugs, Wires, Fuel Pump Relay, Battery Cables, Ignition Module, Timed...

had it running again today shut it off, now it wont start. acts like a dead battery but battery good

when you reset the distributor, did you have the spout connector out? did you set the timing with a light? i'm not saying it will fix your start problem, but the timing does need to be right, i'd go 12*
