Want to finish this fan conversion TODAY! need 1 answer
So I didn't pull these fans at a salvage yard, I got them new... still decently priced I must add... but anyway if you look at the picture I posted there are 3 wire that come from each of the two fans RED, BLACK, and BLUE... I have some sort of idea that black is ground, red is hot, and blue is some kind of control? Anyway they are spliced together into 4 wires, RED, BLUE, BLACK, AND RED W/BLACK STRIPE... What wire are what? I tried to look it up but I'm not finding anything...

You will have to test, but the wires will be
black-ground
blue-high or low speed power
red-high or low speed power
Apply ground to black then use a jumper wire from battery to connect red or blue, you should be able to tell by the fan speed which one is high speed and which is low.

Black is ground obviously
Red is high speed for right fan
Blue is the same as red
Red w/black line is low speed for the left fan
I don't use my A/C so I'm not gonna use 2 relays I'm gonna use one

You can always hook up another relay later and add a manual switch in the cab, I did and turn it on when I'm leaving the truck idling or stuck in traffic. That's just an option and you can wire things up however you want them, like temp controller doing the high speed, switch doing a low speed, vice versa, or even just triggering one fan to come on. There are multiple possibilities and it's just however you want to run it and the operating situations you will be in. If you constantly leave the truck idling (like when you run into the gas station, etc..) or have heavy slow moving traffic I would strongly recommend a switch that will allow you to turn it on manually and have it constantly running when needed.

Fltdriver. .....after two summers on the fans, I can honestly say there is no reason for the fans to run constantly. That's allot of battery drain even with a 3g. Just my opinion. I've sat idle in 100+ temps and the fans cycled on and off with no hint of overheat after 30 minutes.

I just do it for when I leave it idling at gas stations, I would rather having it running like it naturally does with airflow constantly over the engine. I'm not so concerned about ECT as about the removal of the mech fan that constantly blows air onto/over the engine block. I know it may be redundant and not needed but in my head I feel the air moving over the engine block may be needed for some reason or they would have put in an electric fan.
I know it's not needed it just satisfies my mind, plus with the 130 amp it doesn't have an issue. I usually hit the ATT button on the head unit and turn the blower off when I go in.
