Dual tanks, and both pumps have always worked. Now when I switch betweem the two tanks, no difference. I'm assuming this means an OOTT pump is bad on the rail. Probably a good guess.

See if it comes on, see if it is noisy.

So I replaced the fuel filter first. Hopped in and it started. So I revved the engine a bit and it pumped fuel and everything. Then I let it idle. It idled for about a minute then died and is acting exactly how it did yesterday. The fuel pumps seem to all be in working order.

Sorry. They are all in working order. Now, after replacing that fuel filter, everything seems to be in working order. Gave a little hell at first but works great now. I'll try it again in a few hours and let you all know if it's still good!

So, it's Friday and on my work lunch break at noon I went to the gas station to grab a bite to eat. My truck wouldn't start when I left. I hitched a ride to work, and got off at about 3 and called up my father and he came down with his truck so we could tow it to his place. I had him grab me another fuel filter on his way. Got to the gas station, still wouldn't start. Threw the filter on in 30 seconds and she fired right up! Thank God it's now the weekend and I can drop the tank, because I think I have a bigger problem! Thanks guys. I'll keep you updated.

Got the tank out. Fuel pump and fuel pump sock are rusted and dissolving. Gotta empty the fuel, coat the tank, and start from there.

same thing happened to me but i didnt get mine towed. Screw payin for that ****. Got a ride home, cooked some dinner, came back about 1 in the morning with a buddy for him to pull me back home. But first I decided to just Mash on the Gas for about a good 30 seconds. Afterwards it worked fine. I determined the problem later, half the gas from the rear tank would pour into the front tank, and the other half would go to the engine. Some flap in the front fuel pump was stuck thats why it was doing this. I guess mashing on the gas unstuck the fuel line and it was good to go. its been 8 months since. Havent had the same problem again yet.

Told ya that in the beginning! Glad you are on your way to fixing it, if the tank is in real bad shape I would just get a new one.

The tank itself is actually in prettt decent condition. Light surface rust inside. No flaking. I empty the fuel, washed the tank with acetone and gave it a good beating with a rubber mallet and have inspected the inside. No serious damage. Gonna coat it with some red coat. Its such a quick and easy job to drop that tank that ifsomething else goes wrong, ill be able to drop the tank in under a half hour.
