I'll second (third, fourth?) the comments about the Dodge. She'll probably eat you for dinner. All of the advantages spoken of previously are definitely working against you. And yes, the 5.9L was around until 2002, as far as I understand, so yes. Definitely gonna be hard to keep up with her, let alone beat her. Sorry, man. (Honestly, I'd be leery putting my 5.8 up against her, especially with the 3.08 rear end I have.)

The dodge will win in a race but its still a turd. You've got the better truck even if it is slower. I wont tell you what I think about dodges. Its not nice

I agree with the above. I was a dodge tech for a few years in the late 90's and worked on a ton of those old rams. They had crap falling apart all the time. I had customers that babied their trucks and the things would still fall apart. Even though its a 5.9, its a heavy *** turd. Ill give you a little better shot at winning than the others, but you gotta drive it like you stole it.

If your truck is in good running order (with good clutch), I'm betting you would win. I don't care what these guys say. I had one of the Dodges with the 5.9. With the weight, auto tranny, 4x4....they were pitiful. I'd race your friend in my F150 with 5.0, auto, 4x4. I know my Ford truck has a lot more pep than my Dodge did. (Well, I wouldn't race because I'm old enough to know what that gets you...but you get my point). That 5.9 magnum with efi was a joke. I wonder what a dyno would show. I bet the dodge has the torque, but rear wheel hp is closer than you think.

i dont care what you guys say, i love my dodge to death lol, that thing beat my 150 in a race, and my 250 beats the dodge in a race. but my 150 had a ton of wheel spin thanks to its non limited slip rear compared to the dodges limited slip.

I raced an 02 ram with a 5.9 gasser. not sure on anything else with it, but my truck had a 5.0l auto tranny with 3.31 gears and 33's. he had me on the line and gained the whole way through, but not at an incredible rate. I bet if I had equivalent gear to him, along side same size tires, it would have been a pretty even race.

and you don't exactly need a "race track" like the older more responsible guys say haha :P just whatever road you go on, make sure its a long back road with no hills or serious potholes, and check and double check that there are no people or other cars coming, and that's as safe as your gonna get it. seat belts for safety too. a couple buddies riding passenger and a couple buddies out down the road a ways for communication would be ideal too.

No, you need a racetrack.
