Default 87 Bronco Auto to Manual Trans Wiring Question

Okay. Hopefully y'all wont mind me asking a bronco question. I feel I know you guys better and I dont wanna get another forum account for a couple questions. Anyways, my friend bought an 87 Bronco xlt 5.0 with an AOD auto tranny with automatic locking hubs and push button 4x4. Recently he pulled all the manual parts off a 1990 Bronco with a 5 spd and swapped everything manual over to the truck BUT the wiring. He got everything off and installed into the truck just fine. Everything mechanical works great with the truck. He also got a different computer out of a 1989 Bronco that had a 5.0 with a 5 spd and 4x4. After he had everything installed (trans, clutch pedal assembly, master cyl, ecu) he couldn't get the truck to start with the ignition switch, but he could start it by jumping the starter solenoid. I figure its the neutral safety switch that is his problem. So my question is, what needs to be done to make the ignition switch activate the starter? Can he just bypass the safety switch to get it started or does he need to swap over to a manual truck wiring harness? If so, does he need to swap the wiring harness that hooks up to original auto tranny to a manual trans wiring harness? Or is it the dash wiring harness that needs to be changed?

Sorry for the long and probably confusing post, but he's pretty frustrated with the whole thing and just needs some help.
Thanks guys -Joe

If I can remember right when i did the swap I had to do the same thing, jump the starter solenoid to make it start. You could wire in a new neutral safety switch or jump the wires, I just jumped the wires because no one but me drives my truck.

As to which wires I can't quite remember, try googling it, first site gave me the wrong wires but the second site had it right.

Okay. Thanks. Thats what I thought. So all that needs to be done, is to connect the wires that are open for a neutral safety switch. But on the automatic harness is this down at the tranny connection or behind the dash? I would guess down at the tranny disconnect cause thats what hooked into his AOD and thats the only place I can think of other than something that corresponds to the column shifter position or something of the sort.

And yes, btw, he's the only one that drives the vehicle. He's had three 5 spd mustangs within the past 3 years too.

If the aod is similar to the e4od then you can jump the wires right where it comes out of the computer under the hood. Before I re wired everything I just wrapped everything up, shoved it by the master cylinder and jumped it at the connector to the transmission. After re wiring I jumped it right at the computer under the hood, I'll get a picture in the morning it's late and rainy here.

We had nothing going on in shop class so I modified the trans harness. 2 wires for the neutral safety switch, 2 wires for reverse lights and 2 for the 4x4 lights, made everything a lot cleaner.

You got to it before I finished my edit lol but ya personally I'd take the wiring harness out and take out the pins/wires you don't need then jump it closer to the computer so you don't have this big jumble of wires.

You really should add the cluch pedal switch, it gives a signal to the computer too and without it you will always get a clutch switch code. I have diagrams at home.

I honestly don't care. Its not my truck. He can do whatever he wants. I told him what 94F150I6 told me and he got it figured out from there. Yeah, if it were mine, I'd do it. Whatever. Lol. Thanks guys. Problem solved.
