'91 has a VSS... and that controls shifting you said... so a good easy place to start on tracing my very random bad shifts would be that VSS sensor right?

So i wired the old light sockets back inline with the leds and it solved all the problems. So gotta order some resistors. Do i need one for the ground wire or just the two power wires

truckie- you only need the resisters for the + wire. not going to do anything by resisting the grounds... do they light up normal with the break lights too? could you post a pic of tail lights, then with brake applied? i have gotten LED bulb replacements of the bay before and the tail worked fine, brake applied, killed the bulb...cheap bulbs i guess. If they work fine, I know I will difinitely be doing this to my truck and most likely my nav!

Mustang this is a great project! Could you do a full write up on how you did it plus the parts and part numbers needed for this mod? My 89's VERY foggy and kinda dangerous to drive at night and this would be the PERFECT mod for me.

And there are no part numbers lol. It's "go to lowes, buy sheet of lexan, have it cut to size of inside of lens housing, go home, hacksaw the stock lens face out, and slide the old in in behind where it sat, seal it up and go"
Obviously I'll give you guys more details, but I didn't take many pictures so it will be explanation heavy. Simple mod though, once you get the courage to rip off your lenses

Gotta go get the pictures of the outside, which will help explain the insides pretty well.
If any of you guys have moisture in your lights, be prepared for the reflector to look like alumnum foil instead of chrome. And I IMPLORE you to not do this mod if you A)have regular headlight bulbs or B)don't have off road lights. This WILL turn your headlights into long ranged lights, with little regard to sideways illumination. I have HIDs so they work great for me, but I just want people to know about the beam pattern before chopping the lights up. My pattern is high intensity about 3 lanes wide, and then just so-so light on the sides, But still better than stock bulbs in the stock housing.
Also, not DOT legal (obviously)
