fuel injector tick
i have been noticing a ticking sound lately when accelerating, i have narrowed it down to the injectors, is it normal for them to tick or is there something else wrong?

Not sure what year model truck you have so I dont know if it has the acoustical sensor to detect engine knock and retard timeing for low octane fuels. But if your Fuel Injected and have this sensor you may want to take the truck in and have them look at it. Otherwise maybe have a tune-up on your truck because it should obviously run off regular fine, unless you just happened to buy some bad gas

i run 89 in it 90% of the time, shouldn't be bad gas, i buy my gas from a local private station, as far as a tune up i've gone as far as plugs, wires, cap and rotor, i thought i've heard around here that these older trucks don't run real well on high octane fuel?

Springer Spaniels Rule
Mine tick all the time, so did every ford I own, it comes and goes, try running some injector cleaner in the fuel, probably a little dirty. As far as fuel, they run on all fuels the difference is the higher octane have more detergents for more precision and higher compression performance engines, Our engines are set up and timed for lower octane, it will not hurt but it is not worth putting the higher octane, unless timing is advanced and you want to spend the money for the higher octane gas.

How did you come to the conclusion it is the injectors? A hairline crack or broken gasket on the exhaust manifold will definitely cause the noise. Unfortunately, this is one of those things where I'd have to pretty much be standing next to the truck and hear it.

it reminded me of a manifold leak, and hoping it wasn't something internal, popped the hood, took a pipe, put my ear on one end, manifold, nothing, valve covers, nothing, right on top of injector, tick tick tick tick

Well, when you put it right on the injector of course you're gonna hear it ticking.....but you have another tick more audible? Try tightening where your wye pipe bolts to your manifolds...that's where one of my leaks was....probably would be best to soak it with PB first...they get stubborn.
