Don't reconnect the tube without a cat. It becomes a cutting torch. The two cats are designed to work together, one does one job ( NOx ) the other does another( CH and Co ) . You can remove whichever you like or both. The only result is greater pollution and maybe a bit more volume.

Its alright man, so your truck should have 1 02 sensor before the cats, and a AIR tube (the tube that is welded into the exhaust). Do not re connect the AIR tube, you can just leave it be.

Yeah I'm trying to be clear and offer the best advise I can. I feel that the smog equipment should be left in tact because you only gain more smog and a little sound volume. I think its best to just replace the muffler with a tuned one and some larger tail pipe to get the sound and performance you want. However if your going to cut the cats Ill help there as well. Like they said, there should be only one sensor and it should be before the cat. As long as that goes back in you can cut the rest. Later models have more complications.

I agree with what you are saying, I leave my cats on and smog stuff unless something fails, or I am building up a motor. Otherwise I do not really mess with it.

Yeah you have to do some real serious modification for the smog equipment to affect the outcome much. By then the EEC program is useless anyway. I know a builder of hot rod engines that is a friend of my instructor. He build 900 HP flat head motors and adds cats to every vehicle. He simply feels that there is no reason not to. On the machine his motors can pass the 5 gas sniffer test. He says he's just trying to keep hot rodding alive in todays world.

Ok so I never really got a good look at it till I did it,but he guy before me deleted the air pump already, I mean it's still there, just bypassed on the belt system, I cut one cat, the back one, it's pretty loud but I dont think the cows will mind! Hah, well I welded up a new pipe to dump it before the rear right tire. I just gotta brush off the slag on the pipe where I welded and I should be in good shape!

Both of my cats have been gutted since both of mine clogged within a month of each other. The second one was a brand new magnaflow too. Mine is just a glasspack that's dumped under the bed and its loud. Only reason I kept my casings is so if they ever check it it's still legal. You might wanna go that route. Just my 2 cents.

It's not legal, it only looks legal. That's how I did mine.
