Dodge+Ford = always ready
It was seafoamed recently enough, that shouldn't be too big of an issue
Yeah I'll try retarding it a little bit. I'm also going to remove my valve covers, make sure theres no sludge up there and check out the rockers and such, keep them in check. Also I may or may not end up painting my valve covers...
Anything else to look for while I'm in there?

The standard timing is 10 deg BTDC IIRC so it might be good to retime it. There should be a VECI label under the hood with the proper info.
My 302s have always been sensitive with timing. My 83 302 with the small 2bbl carb always seemed to have a detonation under hard load until I went with a 4 bbl. I was never able to run much higher than 11 deg BTDC which gave me 20" of vacuum at idle. The two other 302s (Cougar, Town Car) were EFI cars and all seemed very happy at 10 to 12 deg BTDC. BTW its good to check because none of the vehicles were at the setting they were supposed to be according to the sticker. My Dad's 89 CV was set at 8 deg from the fact and going to 10 increased gas mileage by 2 to 21mpg Hwy and improved the performance according to the Dad dyno.
