5.0 cold start
ive got a 94 2wd 5.0, when its cold out, between 30-35 degrees, the truck will start but dies shortly after. sometimes i have to do this three times to stay running. the battery is good and has had a tune up a few months back. what else could it be?

On cold morings i prime my fuel system by turning the key on and off about 3 times before actualy turning over the motor. When you turn it you will hear your fuel pump kick in, thats like bumping the peddle on a carb.

do a search on this forum. I have pages and pages of documentation regarding the infamous cold start stall on the 5.0 motor.
Its all over the web. Unfortunately, no solutions.
Before you drop a wad of cash, I have a 1995 5.0 2wd that does the same thing yours does. My check engine light flashes 3 times before it stalls. If its above 40 degrees, the idle will dip but not stall. Under 30 degrees it might stall, under 20 degrees it will stall.
I am throwing no codes.
Trying to solve this cold start stall,I have so far replaced:
Plugs, rotor, cap, wires, PCV valve, air filter, fuel filter, IAC, seafoamed intake, coolant temp sensor, air charge sensor.
Unfortunately, this problem has never been solved. Its also a problem with the 1994-1995 Mustangs with the 5.0. There are guys who have sold their trucks because they couldn't solve the problem.
One guy did say that he replaced his distributor and it solved the problem.
All the other threads online are nothing but frustration.
The guys on this website have been extremely helpful and I think eventually I will figure it out.

Do yourself a favor first though and remove the IAC and clean it thoroughly and re-install it. Make sure you disconnect the battery for 30 minutes while you are taking it off and cleaning it out with carb cleaner.
A dirty IAC is usually the cause of a problem like yours. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the issue for our trucks.
If you figure it out PLEASE post the solution!
