Default 4.9 Cooling Fan

Just bought a new light duty fan clutch and am looking for a lighter plastic fan? Just did this on another truck with a 302, the end result is lot quieter and less drag on the motor. The bolt circle is slightly smaller on the 4.9 vs a 302 fan to clutch bolts.

Ended up using a plastic fan from a Blazer 4.3l. It's a little lighter and has more blades, 11 vs 7. Have to see how it works but so far so good.

With the 302 I used a lite duty fan clutch used in a 90's v8 mustang and a plastic fan used on an explorer. The setup was around $60 but its way quieter and lite weight. This was purchased new at Oreilly. Even fully engaged its a lot less drag than what comes oem on the truck and cools my truck just fine.

With the 302 yes. Seems as the 302's use the same bolt pattern and serpentine belt ones are all reverse rotation. The fan and clutch that's oem would work the heaviest use, but the lite duty works fine for my needs.

When I researched doing the fan mod, the lite duty clutch runs about 60 - 70% of rpm at full lock. The oem severe duty was 80 - 90%. That coupled with the lite weight fan and the difference is noticible. About as close to an efan you can get without an efan.

The Explorers run a electronic clutch fan that totally spins free until some lock is induced. Seems like for a vehicle that could tow the manufacturers won't install e fans unless at least a couple 18's can fit.

I have a e fan ready to be bolted on but im not to great with wiring and I really don't want to get stuck out because I wired it up wrong so im happy with this set up being less likely to fail on me
