302 - 302HO engine swap
Hey guys, I'm taking on a project that seems very do-able, but any input is always welcome. I have a 1993 F-150, 302EFI, speed density, AOD transmission. Due to the high miles, and to be totally honest, the lack of good power, I'm building a 1991 302HO from a mustang. If I remember correctly, the Mustang was MAF, not speed density. I'm told that the conversion over wouldnt be a big deal. I'm assuming that I'll also need to use the computer from the Mustang? And also build a small harness for the MAF? Since I have an AOD which doesnt rely on the processor for shifting, I'd think the computer from a Mustang with a 5 speed would do the trick? Thats if I have to swap the computer at all. Just a few things I thought I'd ask early into the project. Thanks for any input.

yes you will need the ECM from the stang and all the sensors your truck doesnt have...
use the upper and lower intake from your truck as the runners are larger....and flow more than the stang parts...
you can search for Mass Air Conversions and find the cable you need and the pin-outs.....

Dunne-rite.com is a good place to get a maf conversion at the right price. I think you'd come out better if you built a 351, lots of the mustang parts work on the 351 but you get the bigger displacement out of it.

if you are going to go the MAF route check out he Eagle bottom end kits...you can get a 331 or 347 stroker kit for a reasonable price...
Crank, rods, rings and bearings and most of the time it is cheaper than turning your crank and buying pistons and then re-con'n the rods...
and the 347s run sweet as hell....it will put just about any 351 to shame in a hurry....

hey I was just saying...if you have to rebuild the bottom end why not?
I do...I get the parts cheaper than it cost me to reman the old ones so I always do...
every 350 that comes in goes out a 383 and every 302 that comes in goes out a 347...its free horsepower....
