Default $30.00 exhaust system

Driving truck fri, got to work backing up I bumped curb, truck got louder, climbed underneath it was junk, nothing but rust, went to Advance,

2 clamps $5.00
2 extensions $15.00
1 hanger $3.00
1 elbow $6.00
1 free $30.00 thrush turbo muffler $priceless!

The muffler was dented I asked if he had any more he said no and I guess he figured I did not want it, with other stuff I got bill was $40.00, I thought bill was cheap, I grabbed my stuff and the muffler, cautiously scurried out of there, and headed for the hiway.

I went to autozone and asked for the cheapest muffler, online they have a $25.00 one in stock, The counter girl aked what vehicle, I said it was a universal, either dynomax or thrush, she insisted on looking up vehicle, she brought out a $40.00 replacement, I said no, I left, went to Advance, asked for the cheapie muffler, the counter boy looked at me funny and said we aingt gots none of those, I went to the performance aisle and low and behold the thrush turbo muffler. These dumb *****es in these places dont even know what they have. Unless its on the computer screen they have no clue. Gotta love the counter surfers.

Problem is they hire these idiots off the street who can only type in vehicle, yr and engine and thats it, they know nothing about auto parts. I used to deal with an Advance by me, there was a girl counter person who was good, she knew her stuff, she would go out of her way to find the part, unfortunately she is gone, if I was looking for something she would send me in the back to find what I was looking for, there as also a parts store by me if they were busy I would look up the part and get it myself, but those days are gone. Even when I go online and get the part numbers they still ask what its for, or cant find the part unless its on the computer screen.

i really wish it was like it was 10 years ago. people for the most part worked at places like that because they knew or at least liked cars but now its like oh i can type ford aspire in a computer and read the number it comes up with for spark plug i can totally work there....then you start asking them about MSD and K&N and Holleys and they give you the dumb look

LOL! Thats the look when I aked about the Thrush muffler at Advanced. And you are right, back then everyone who worked the counter actually knew cars, now if they bolt on a cold air intake or put in a kN filter they are experts.

I agree with everything said......the only place I've found where the parts guys know their **** near me is NAPA.......it's in a small town, everyone know everyone and most of the time they don't need to look anything up because they know where it is.

A little more tone, not much, i did not want it loud, i left the cats, all I did was put a 2 1\4-2 1\2 adapter from cat to 2-1\2 x 18" ext pipe, 2 1\2 muffler, 2 1\2 90deg elbow, 2 1\2 x 18" pipe, simple and worked perfect, it comes out just past the cab, it probably took me a no more than 45 min to do, including welding and sawzalling the old pipes which was like cutting through tin foil.
