Who wrote that rule? If it gets stuck it gets stuck, no matter where it is. If you only have 2 wheels spinning with an open diff, your gonna get stuck everywhere. The only thing that seperates you from a car is ground clearance.

Just speaking from experience, I've owned both 2wds and 4wds, and I've gotten stuck in some mud. But I have yet to get stuck on the grass you would find on the shoulder of the road and had to lock it in 4 (and definitely not with a rolling start).

If he had a heavy load to get moving, I'd agree with you.

Default Try this

I have a '95 F150 2wd, I-6 and 5 speed. It will get stuck on nothing. I live in New England and know what slippery driving is. I just don't plan on driving my truck much in the winter (it is a RUST-FREE southern truck).

I found this buried somewhere here yesterday. Check these guys out:

www.aussielocker.com/

I sent them a message last night and I had a response in the AM. VERY helpful.

Default had a Ranger

I had a 1984 Ranger years ago with the V6 and 5 speed. Yup, I got helplessly stuck on wet grass. I could not believe it!

wet grass is terrible for just about any vehicle with small tires.

i have even been stuck on it with a dump truck and concrete mixer truck as well.

I know weight in the bed will, but thats gonna KILL gas mileage, will all terrain tires like 30s or 31s be good? I have the ext cab lariat 4.9 2wd. its higher in rear too than in the front. Any help? I like those tires, but a little to mud tire-ish type, lookin for somethin that wont kill gas mileage or be too loud on road. Just like all terrain yokahamas or somethin like that. Its a 2wd so i dont want it to have huge mud tires and not be able to actually use them in deep mud. lol. I hate it when people do that, jack up there truck put huge tires on it, then it never touches mud, its sad.
