Default 2.73 on a 300 M5OD - towing? mpg city/hwy?

Found a real nice 96 f150 but I'm a little nervous about this combo/ratio after the things I've read.

I plan on using this truck to run around town on the weekends, maybe drive to work (30 hwy miles) on occasion, and use it to haul stuff in the bed when necessary (moving in a couple months). I currently don't plan on towing anything but it'd be nice to have the capability if I owned a truck

According to the manual it could only tow 2100lbs - is this realistic?

Would the 2.73 give me better hwy mpg than a 3.08/3.55/etc?

Would the 2.73 give me worse city mpg than a 3.08/3.55/etc?

What do you think of this ratio for my intended use?

I have a 95 i6 and it's my dd it gets great gas milage city and hwy I can go almost 400 miles before re fueling as far as towing mine has enough torque to pull down a house if your going to pull a load over the rated then just keep it out of od and slow down but they normally under rate several hundred lbs for "safety"reasons,I'm sure it would pull whatever you put behind it, as far as the ratios the lower the number the taller gear bigger number shorter the gear (big number easy to ball a tire smaller number harder to ball a tire) .

My 300 with 3:55 has pulled everything I put behind her. Granted she won't go over 55 pulling 10k+ she does fine

Those are driving gears, not hauling or towing gears. In simple terms.

I agree with everything said. It will be just fine for what you are doing. My 3.08 gearing on 33's I think it comes to the equivalent of 2.76 final ratio. It gets around well enough that it doesn't bother me much at all. Passing would suck though lol

I'm still rockin the 2.73's on 33" tires and I can squeal em through 3rd gear. The low end torque of the motor makes up for the the high end gearing
