1996 rear end help
Hello I've been a member for a while but never posted. I own a 1996 f150 ambulance compatable model and I'm needing a new rear end. According to my uncle it said the yolk and the 2 axles with bearings is bad maybe other things I'm curious would it be best to just yank a while rear end off one from junk yard or try to rebuild It? It' only got 147,774 miles. Runs great just the rear end is loud. Is there a place to order a whole new rear end? It' a v8. I've found A 1994 for $1,000 316,000 miles that owner says builds up pressure I'm not sure what that means but would that rear end fit mine?

Any 8.8 rear end out of an 87-96 F150 or bronco would bolt up just fine. It would be much cheaper to do that than rebuild the one you have.

If you want the same exact rear end (with respect to capacity and gear ratio), the easy way to find one at the junk yard is to look at the door jamb sticker and make sure the axle code matches your current vehicle. Look at page 00-01-13 of the attached for axle code chart.
