Per the service manual, there are no 19 gallon rear fuel tanks on the 4X2's . They are all 18.2 gallons. As for the mid-ship (or front as some like to call them), there is no such tank that has an 18.2 gallon capacity for the 4X2's. The 1996 4X2 reg. cab mid ship tank sizes are:
16.3 gallon for a short wheel base (116.8")
19 gallon for a long wheel base (133")

In your defense, Mattbarron94, I have ordered parts from Rock Auto and they will call the rear tank a 19 gallon tank - despite the fact that Ford says it's a 18.2 gallon tank.

FYI-The wheel base is on bottom left of your door jamb sticker.

I ordered the front tank from LMCTruck dot com. They say,

Short bed front side-mount gas tank capacity: 16 gallon
Long bed front side-mount gas tank capacity: 19 gallon
Long and short bed rear-mount gas tank capacity: 19 gallon

They have lots of decent parts and accessories for Ford F series and Bronco 1980-1996 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton

I ordered the front fuel pump from eBay for 33.68 (no tax and no shipping charge). Copy and paste this, New Electric Fuel Pump Driver Left Side F150 Truck F250 F350 LH Hand F6TZ9A407BA on eBay or Google search bar.

Ford did recall on 1991-1993 ford f-series vehicles equipped with dual fuel tanks and 4.9, 5.0,5.8, or 7.5 liter gasoline fueled engines. Some vehicles can experience a cross tank fuel flow condition due to a damaged check valve in the fuel pump/sender assembly. A malfunctioning check valve within the fuel pump assembly causes a portion of the unused fuel from one tank to be returned to the second tank. When this occurs, the capacity of the second tank can be exceeded, causing fuel spillage. It is very common, but Ford refused to send additional recall on 1994-1996 because it was too expensive to replace two in-tank fuel pumps.

Do you mean Ford replaced check valve located inside the fuel pump at the bottom of the fuel delivery module?

No, they started putting check valves on the fuel line themselves when the in tank check valve failed. This was a cheaper method then changing the pump out.

I was told the internal check valves cannot be replaced instead they replaced fuel pumps. But you are correct. Who sales external check valves? I think I need one.

When I selected the switch to rear, the fuel would not return to the rear tank. Which fuel tanks must I install the check valve to the return fuel line? While using the front tank of fuel, it flows back to the front-- which is normal.
