Default 1996 fuel tank sizes?

In prep to repair the fuel pump in my front tank, the parts dude asked what size is was. I didn't know. It seems that they are listed by size, not location!

Anyway, my truck is a 1996 XL, 2wd ... pretty basic. It has 2 tanks. There is one ahead of the rear axle and one behind.

I'm going to be repairing the pump in the front tank (ahead of the axle).

Can anyone let me know the sizes of each tank?

Many thanks.

Assuming you have a long bed, the front is a 19 gallon and the rear is a 16 gallon. I think that's what I read in the manual for my '96.

Doesn't quite answer his question since he needs to know the capacity of EACH tank, not both combined.

As far as I knew both mine were 19 gal in my long bed. Only difference was the short bed had a 16 gal front tank.

Thanks everyone.
I'm pretty sure the 19 gallon is the one I needed to know.

Apparently, they use different pumps for the front and the back!

The pump itself is the same, but the hanger/sending unit is a different length.

Make sure you order the right fuel pump. Some will say it will fit both front tank and rear tank. The only difference is the rear fuel pump doesn't have flat bottom fuel inlet and is designed in different angle that reaches the bottom surface of fuel tank about 1/8" ...

I need to know your wheel base to know the tank sizes. I don't know if XL designates a specific wheelbase. Here is what the 96 manual shows (these are all for F150's 4X2):
All Aft Axle tanks for F150s 4X2 are 18.2 gls, so the following are for the mid ship tanks.
116.8 wheel base, reg cab: Midship tank is 16.3 gals
133 WB, reg cab: Mid Ship tank is 19 gals
138.8 WB, Super Cab: Mid Ship is 16.5 gals
155 WB, Super Cab: Mid Ship is 19 gals
