1995 f150 v8 302 gas mileage help.
i have a 1995 f150 xlt v8 302 extended cab short bed. im getting around 14 mpg and i could use some advice on how to get better mpg. someone told me something about a "hot ignition", said it would burn fuel better and give more hp along with better fuel economy. what is this and how much will it help? any other things that could help me? thanks.

I'd love to get 14 mpg with my truck... 8" lift with 35's = about 8 mpg...

You may gain 1-2 mpgs with mods but not much more. A lot of gas mileage has to do with the way you drive. "Hot ignition" never heard of it unless you mean the timing bump, sparkplug gap, and hotter ignition coil. That may gain you 1-2 mpgs. There is no miracle fix for fuel mileage.

A few things to consider:
-Brass Terminal Distributor Cap (BWD, Standard, Wells, MSD, etc.)
-Motorcraft Rotor Button Part Number: DR374B (Note: Copper and Brass conductors, also much better constructed than most aftermarket rotor buttons from my experiences. I'm a BIG fan of this part and you can get Advance Auto to order it for around 8 bucks.)
-Upgraded Spark Plug Wires - 8.8mm, 9mm or 10.2mm (Basically anything better than stock)
-Cheap Plain Jane Copper Core Autolite or Motorcraft Copper Core Spark Plugs - I'm a platinum plug lover, but trust me, on your truck, don't try anything else, you'll be disappointed more than likely. Don't learn the hard way like me!
Note: Gap plugs at .055. If you have time to experiment, you may have good results with a larger gap.
-"Hotter" Ignition Coil
-Bump Up Timing
-Synthetic Motor Oil
-Synthetic Differential Gear Oil
These are a few suggestions and this is assuming you've done the obvious, i.e. air filter, tire pressure, etc.

I have the I6 but I am experimenting with an O2 spacer. I tried the timing bump ect... and really didn't notice much of an increase. Maybe I'll start a new thread about the O2 spacer experiment.
