well putting a turbo will wake up the truck but it will uncover other issues... a stock 10-in or 11in factory clutch will NOT hold under boost... it will slip

Id like to add that just making a big powerful engine and dropping it in does not make for a faster truck. or slapping on a turbo. you should always look at the entire car or truck. its going to need a better transmission or at least better componans Like the Doc said. another thing is the rear end. our trucks have plenty of axle hop and while i can do a burn out with my truck im very likely to break a leaf

working at a shop with a Pretty big preformance section i got tons of kids in wanting to supp up there cars. and they always forget the biggest thing when upograding there stuff. you can have a 9000hp car but it dont do a damn worth of good if it cant put that to the road.

you got your work cut out for you to just make a proof of consept turbo i6 in a f150.

Not to mention the weeks/months of tuning/tweeking time with the Megasquirt.

yeah that too haha. I still think the only best way to win for sure is swap in a turbo diesel. even then to get more boost just swap in a bigger turbo not sure how much pressure a stock 7.3l turbo is but hey much quicker to mess around with the megasquirt custom exhaust ect ect

well yeah but they cost more. were still talking about a 300 dollar bet here right? or is that just gone out the window now?

Edelbrock makes a self learner. as well as msd i think. plug play and drive. might need to type in a few perameters but nothing major im sure.

A quick google search popped up tons of types and styles. some are pretty neat on how they work too.
Still adding a turbo for under 300 bucks is a bit far fetched.

I mean sure you won 300 bucks but after the battle all that's left is a smoldering crater where your wallet was...

The Idea wasn't to build a turbo system for under $300. That was just an extra prize to help win back some of the money we put into the system. I had no intentions of spending less than even maybe $900 on a system. It all depends on where I get the parts, and what it takes to make it work. I have put a LOAD more research into it, but it's still going to take some time. I am making a list, and checking it twice, and I understand it's not going to be just bolt here, bolt there, drill over there, plug, and drive. It is obviously going to take a lot of work, but everyone seems to discourage the idea so much here that now I am totally determined to finish this project, regardless of the rewards. Now that I have time, and am finding another DD other than my pickup, I will be able to apply a lasting turbo setup.
