Default 1995 F-150 Getting Warmer Than Usual

Hey everybody. Got a question for y'all. So I noticed here lately that my engine temp is getting warmer than usual. It usually never goes past the R in NORMAL but here lately it's been going to the far side of the M and sometimes all the way to the L. Never overheated. I checked all the levels and noticed my coolant reservoir was pretty low but not empty. So I filled it up and went back inside. Came out to go to the store later and noticed a large puddle on the ground. Assumed it was the coolant I had just put in. Checked the level and it was back to what it was before. Haven't looked to see where it could be leaking from yet. Was hoping maybe someone has experienced this before and could give some insight. So, my question is could the coolant level being low affect the temperature this much? And any idea where I would start looking for a leak? Thanks in advance everyone!
