Default 1995 4x4 needs help!

Hey guys, pretty new to the whole 4x4 scene as I juss recently bought a 95 f150 5 speed.

Sine I bought this truck I put on a set of BF goodrich 33x10.5 15s. However making turns my tires rub on what I think is called the radius arm???? Its only really sharp turns but still enough to be annoying.

Basically what im looking to do is give my truck a lift so the 33s wont rub and I can later install 35x12.5s 15. My question is of course whats the better lift, even though im pretty sure im going with a suspension. But also will that take care of my rubbing problem???

Also in most lift kits i see add a leaf, i already have extra leafs kicking around, so would i be juss better adding my own leaf and getting longer shocks and coil springs???

By the way this truck is pretty much a daily driver so im looking for a ride thats smooth on the highway, but i can take out in the mud and off-road on weekends. Im looking to hopefully get a kit for $500 or less, but who knows.

Anyways any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Welcome to the board.

Your 1995 F150 has the front coils, you can get a set of leveling coils from fatbobsgarage.com for about $130 plus shipping. They should give you enough lift to clear the rubbing issue up. If you go to the 12.5's, you may need to get rims with different back-spacing, otherwise you will probably rub, even with the leveling springs. If you want to use and add-a-leaf kit, you can get one for about $50 to $100, depending on the width of your springs. The add-a-leaf kit I had installed on my 1996 F150 4x4 raised the rear at least 2 inches. My truck rides just fine on the highway, imho.

Good luck!

Mine do the same thing with 12.50s i just don't turn all the way, suspension lift is the way to go. get a kit with the radius arms that have a bow to them and you won't have that problem.

The tire will still rub on the oem radius arms regardless of lift because it doesn't change the relation of the arm to the front suspension. You would need to buy a kit with re-desgned radius arms to deal with the issue. A lift kit, either body or suspension will give you more clearance in the fender well, but the arm stays in the same place in relation to the front axle. Buy a set of wheels with less backspacing, or re-designed radius arms.

Wouldnt spacers between the weel and the... umm... dunno what its called in english :s 'part to which you bolt the weel' do the trick?
I have seen it done on street cars anyway.

Wheel spacers aren't safe for use on 4wd trucks, or much anything else. It adds stress to the hub and wheel and with the larger heavier tires the spacer can snap off.

I had 35x12.50 with a set of aftermarket set of wheels with differenent backspacing and factory radious arms and did not have any rubbing issues.
