Default 1994 F150 V6 EcoBoost Swap

i have been thinking about doing an engine swap on my 94 F150. it has the old 302 5.0L V8 (awesome 10mpgs) with the standard trans. i want to swap that with the V6 EcoBoost crate engine for better mileage and power.

has anyone tried this and what "hiccups" should i watch out for?

I started pricing that out & stopped at $13000, at that point I had only the engine and computer & harness, so all in, it would likely cost 15-30k to make that swap. You probably wouldn't save that much on fuel, unless you are a coast to coast hot shot driver, who seldom sleeps. You might find a wrecked truck with that engine & use it as a donor, that way you would get the accessories and such & just spring for the computer and wiring. All that said, that sounds like an interesting swap, that would be fun to drive.

Eric is pretty much on target...the computer wiring and sensors would have to be satisfied just to get things running,

find an overdrive unit or change your gear ratios, solid tune up should get you in the mid teens easily - IF you can keep your pedal under control

Would be a nice swap and I have seen that combo in some hot rods, but they paid dearly for it...basically took the running gear from the new ford and fabricated a hot rod around it. Very driveable and all the modern conveniences.

I would love to see that swap. But as Eric mentioned. You're probably better off find a totalled ecoboost truck in a yard or auction and pulling the running gear out of that for the swap.
