I have an aftermarket rpm gauge and it seems to never go over 3200 it sounds like its gonna explode if i go any higher is this normal for a 1992 302? my 91 broncos 302 would go up to like 4500 fine. This is just idling and i think my gauge might be off or not wired completely right. Another question my cluster doesnt have the stock rpm gauge would a cluster that did just plug right in or would there have to be more wiring added?

Does your aftermarket rpm gauge have a small switch on the back to switch from 4-6-8 cylinders?

Yes its on 8. Should it be different? The directions said it should be opposite the number of cyl you have.

woh my 99 dodge had the 318 snd 4.10's and it was no gutless piece of crap. used it to pull down trees, pull a van out of a lake(long story) and with that gear rstio it never got over 3500 rpm unless i took off O/D and was pulling into the wind

My 92 302 with 3.55 gears, T-18 4 speed was close to 3k rpm at 65 70 ish. Stock size tires. I've twisted 5k rpm several times... maybe more at times

I got 3.55s and run 1700 at 65 with my 95 302 2wd and want to bump up to 4.10s. What rpms would that put me at roughly?
