Default 1992 tranny problem

Hey all,

I hadnt really had any problems with the tranny until a couple of days ago.
I made about 60 mile trip and when I got back to town, the automatic transmission started feeling like like it was a manual transmission with the clutch about half way out.

I checked the fluid and it had went dry and later when I was walking by my truck, you could see where it had sprayed on the sides of the truck while I was driving.

I filled the fluid and it had a steady drip. So I bought some of that Lucas sealant and it seems to have made it worse.

If you put it in gear and rev it, it will eventually start to move

It pretty much does this in all the gears

Any help on troubleshooting before I pay someone to do it s greatly appreciated.

Any quick fixes are also a help

Thanks in advance

Running the tranny dry is the worst thing you can do to it. That will burn it up in a heartbeat. Revving it to make it move doesn't help either.

I moved it to a different parking space so it wouldnt get hauled off,
I am having it towed to my house until I can figure something out.

Any ideas like flushing it and refilling it after its clean underneath, to see where its leaking from.
Think thats worth doing?

The pan shouldn't be too hard to remove (alot of bolts) and check the gasket for breaks or wear. Clean the filter, check the pan for cracks and refil with cheap fluid and see what happens.

Default Updated transmission issue

Havent had a chance to remove anything yet, but had it towed to my house.

I had to move it into my garage once it got here. After it was put down by the tow truck, I went to turn it around and it shifted right into gear and went up a pretty steep incline into my garage. I thought maybe that Lucas had taken effect and help it, so I moved it out a little but and then it started to lose its muscle getting back into the garage.

Could this be a torque convertor issue, any other things cause this besides a shot transmission?

Could a change in fluid level when the flatbed truck tilted it down, have filled somewhere they may have leaked

I know moving it around in its state isnt a great idea, but I dont have the money at this time for a new tranny and am hoping its something else anyways

Thanks Again guys

Alot of tranny shops do free diagnostics on trannys, wouldn't hurt to take it to them, if it drives, see what they say... if you ran it low on fluid, probably broke more then 1 thing inside, impossible to tell w/out taking it apart (if swapping fluid doesn't help it)

Does the fluid smell burt ?

Default Antifreeze leaking

I havent had a chance to get it anywhere yet, moneys kind of tight.
So, I crawled under the truck, wiped the underneath of it clean.
I poured some transmission fluid in the filler, crawled underneath and waited.
The only thing I found dripping was antifreeze. What does this mean, also while I was underneath there I popped off the little black round rubber disc.
There was zero fluid that came out of there

Not looking good so far

Think that little black rubber is to help drain the torque converter nothing
should come out of it.

I've googled and found similar problems with peoples transmissions slipping and antifreeze mixing in with tranny fluid being a problem.

Whats the actual cause and the best remedy for this.
