Angry 1991 inline six tran problem

So we decided the oil pump was bad or going bad and decided to change it out .jacked up motor pulled tranny so we had enough clearance and changed out pump After i put tranny back in and tightened every thing back up The fly wheel would not turn .I found this out by the starter making a thump when i tried to start it . It is automatic and my question although might sound dumb is . why is the fly wheel not turning even when you spin the wheels .

Automatics are tied to the flywheel using a fluid coupling within the torque converter. Hense why u can not push start an automatic but you can a stick. I would say the torque converter was pulled out slightly and was not reinstalled before reinstalling the transmission. You can check this by removing the torque converter bolts and seeing if you can rotate it freely.
