1989 F150 V-8 Questions
Hello
I am new to older Ford trucks and I have been wondering if the 302CI I have in my truck is the same as in the mustang which has a roller cam? Also what if any differences are there between the 5.0L in the truck and the one in the mustang?
THANKS!

AHHHH!!! so If I decide to rebuild the stock engine, I could put say a Ford Motorsport B303 cam in it without ANY modifications like I would be if I did in a mustang? Also I have a set of 1988 mustang 5.0L HO heads (maybe the whole engine) that I could use as well.

Thanks for the move meski!
I was doing more research and it has been said that they started installing roller engines in the F150's at 1992 and up so I am really confused on what I have. Is there anyway to know without removing the intake? I will try to get to the back of the block to find the factory stamp.
I also have a friend that is willing to hook me up with a 1991 mustang LX 5.0L engine and I can just build it up and install.

The intake and fuel system are different on the mustang. It uses sequential fire fuel injection and short runner intake for high rpm power. The truck uses long runners for torque and has bank fire fuel injection. Make sure you use the right wiring harness and computer for the job. I believe you are correct about the later blocks having roller cams.
