Im getting CPS, "circuit B." Should I swap/would this be the sensor behind the crank pulley?

I think I have one of those from a motor I just did, motor was from a 96 and mine is a 95. For postage you could have it, if I can locate it!

Hey, thanks!! I can get a new Motorcraft one for $35, this is the route I'll go probably.

PN# DY998 I think. The damn thing isn't even a crank sensor, it's called a "misfire sensor." The engine scanner says Crank Pos Sensor though.

The distributor is the timing on the engine, this is ridiculous. You can get a tune to delete it as well.

Default You really bring up some good questions

There are some differences in 5.4 depending on what factory they came from . If the sensors the same physically then the depth is okay ,is it centered the same . Then the orig sensor should work , unless the cam sprocket has a different configuration . In that case all else being equal the mustang one should work . I have my doubts either sensor bad . Timing cover is the main variable here .
I think I would have clearly marked it as mustang engine and stuck with those parts and put new belt routing label on it . It never will be a pure f150 . What the hell do I know .
Good luck and keep us posted .

That definition isn't for a '96 5.0L; it's a generic definition. If you want the correct definition, post the code number.

Codes do NOT mean to change parts - they only indicate where you should begin diagnosis. Did you observe any running symptoms, or just the CEL?
