Default 1990 Ford f150 4x4 5.8L

Hello everyone,,I am a first time poster here but not new to forums.. I am also a first time F15o owner but not a first time Ford owner. I have some questions that I just cant seem to find the answers to. I will post a picture of my F150 as soon as I can...

My first question is; Did that year come with leaf springs or coil springs, on rear end? The reason I ask is because mine has both, well sort of... It is riding on leaf springs now but has half of a coil spring on drivers side and the right side has one ring..LOL Trying to find out all I can about this truck before I start adding. I have the xlt lariat, reg cab, 5.8 (351w), dana 44, 1356 transfer case, E4OD Transmission and 33x12.5 tires with leveling kit in front,,,which I will talk about that later....

Thanks ahead of time,
Jason

Ive never seen any F-150 or Ford pickup in general with coil springs on the rear. Maybe someone added something to help with towing... a picture would help.

I will post a pic following this next weekend, once I get home from the road.. I have been researching all night and days before today, trying to find what year they started using coil springs on the back but cant find anything.

So, after looking at the under carage of my truck for 30 minutes I have come to the conclusion that the Coil Springs on the rear axel are added by someone that owned the truck. My conclusion is based on the welds. As you can see, there are 3" blocks on the rear axel,,are these factory? I don't feel they are but I am no expert, yet, on this truck. Also from the pictures, you can see the "leveling Kit" that was added, a spacer under the front coil springs. This truck has dual shock towers but only one shock is installed, in the front and on both sides. I want to put in a 4" lift to make the suspension look factory and ride the best it can. The problem I have is, I am not sure what parts of the suspension are stock and which are not... Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I hope that the absence of any kind of response to my question is not a sign of what this forum is about. I belong to another forum for truckers and I can post any question in that forum and have a response in seconds,,,just saying.

I have been side tracked since my last post anyway so I haven't been able to put any of the new parts on that I bought a while back. Well, except for my new tach and steering wheel cover..lol I have bought the 4" lift kit from Rough Country, steps, 3.73 gears, side molding, sliding window, water pump, valve cover gaskets and edelbrock intake. I also installed the tow hitch as well. Will update asap....

I cant help you much on your question but this forum is good for mainstream ideas and doesnt go outside of the box especially on older models.

Perhaps if you had posted this in the correct section it would have been seen and commented on. Ymeski has taken care of that by moving it for you, and now I have seen it.

The added springs are kinda neat. Definitely not stock.

Obviously you don't come in the older model section very much.

I didn't realize I had it in the wrong section,,thanks YMESKI56

I finally got the problem solved that I had, thank you Lord! So, Sunday I will be putting my motor back together with new Intake, water pump and valve cover gaskets. Not sure if there is anything I can do to fix rear seal, without taking motor out. At this point, not even sure how bad it is leaking so, will worry about that later.
