1990 f150 sas
Well guys it's been a long time coming, and I have finally got most things ready for this SAS.
The truck is a 1990 F150, 351, regular cab, short bed.
The axle is a Dana 60 from a 1978 or 1979 F-350 Snofighter. It is high pinion, kingpin, and came with an open 3.54 gear ratio. It is in great shape and has the stock Ford manual hub lockouts, so I wont be changing them.
I am re-gearing the axle to 4.10 to match the 10.25 Sterling I put in the rear of the truck. I am also putting a full spool in it.
I'm going to be running stock 16.5" steel wheels, painted black. The tires will either be the 36's or 37's found here: http://www.100dollarman.com/tires.html
I'm waiting until i get the axle installed how I want it, then I can figure out which of those two tires to get.
Now let's get started. This is a fairly long process, and I'm going to explain everything I can in this thread.

This post will cover boxing the frame in order to strengthen it enough, and also to supply a place to mount the front spring hangers. I'm using 1/2" plate to box the frame, and I am drilling two holes so I can still access my bumper bolts. I'm going to weld in a crossmember also, but haven't found one that is right yet.
I'll update this as it comes along.

This post will cover everything else associated with the SAS.
I am purchasing front and rear spring/shackle hangers, and weld on shock mounts from Sky Manufacturing.

Much easier, and the axle was leaf sprung from the factory, so everything is already there. With the right spring pack it can ride really well.
Well I'm not a hardcore off-roader by any means, and it's much cheaper than a Detroit/etc. I pretty much only use 4wd when i'm stuck, and what breaks shafts is 'shock' right? Just gotta keep from hitting the brakes or getting a tire caught on something that will stop it if the tires are spinning.
