My father recently passed away and he has an F150 that he has had for years. Its an extended cab with 8 ft bed, has a 302 and 4 speed with OD manual transmission. The truck will not go into gear no matter if the truck is running with the clutch pressed or shut off. I put in a Manual Transmission Shift Re-Build Kit as a guy who has worked on this truck for years said that it has had this problem before. It didn't make a difference other than much less play in the side to side movement of the shifter. The truck has been sitting for a couple months while my dad changed the fuel tank and pump, but before that he drove it all over. I am wondering if anyone has come across this before, has any thoughts of what to try next or some resources to point me towards. Thank you all in advance for your help.

I got it fixed, when my dad removed the shift lever the linkage was not aligned. So i put in back in alignment and it goes into gear. I work in the IT field so cars are not my forte
