1989 300 crank no start
First of all im sorry for the long post but i want to make sure i dont leav anything out about this truck. Alright we'll my friend brought me his truck because it crank but no start. He said it spit and sputered and died. He was checking stuff under the hood and notice the distributor was loose and it was just spinning there so he tried to set the distributor but still wouldn't start. So when I got it I checked fuel pressure it's 55psi. I turned it over pulled the plugs and they where wet with fuel. Checked spark and it was good, so I tried myself to set distributor. Then I notice the timing mark on the crank does not lign up with TDC. My 76 300 has 2 marks which one ligns up with TDC but not the 89, so I marked TDC with chalk and lined the rotor with #1 spot on cap and dropped the distributor in still no start so I figured it was 180 out so I found TDC again with the rotor pointing #1 then turned it over 1 turn where it was pointing at #6 pulled it out aligned it to #1 still no start. So I tried it all again and instead I putting the crank at TDC I put it at the timing mark still no start. Anyone have any suggestions?? Could it be something eletronic dumping to much fuel or something?? And yes I do have the firing order right 153624

Sounds like the timing chain slipped. That would explain why the mark doesn't line up. You can pull the valve cover to make sure the cam is timed to TDC. If not you need to pull the front cover and check the chain.

Not that I know of. I'll see If I can find out.

They are gear to gear. I would pull the valve cover and make sure #1 is at TDC then check and set distributor if needed, also if the plugs are fuel soaked I would put in a new set.

Did you pull the spout connector when you did the distributor timing?

The I6 has two marks on the balancer, make sure you're looking at the right one. It's not the one you think it would be.
