1988 F150 5.8 V8 Injector Problems

I have a 1988 F150 5.8 V8. The previous owner had the truck parked for years and the fuel injectors keep getting clogged. The fuel filter is stopping rust from the fuel tank but the injectors keep becoming clogged and have to be removed and cleaned. The fuel filter has been changed three times so far.
After a few hundred miles of driving the injectors are clogged again. I know I need to change the fuel tank, but any other suggestions.

There isn't be one thing to do change the tank to make it right.

With that much rust in the system, I would replace the tank, filter and lines.

Why are the injectors getting clogged, the fuel filter should be stopping the dirt. The previous owner removed the rear tank and the lines are bent over.

I don't know but i belive i would replace the fuel lines as well as the tank so that you dont have this Trouble any more.

It's not a miracle filter that removes 100% of the rust man.

just exactly how long has it been sitting for? gas sitting that long creates creosote, which clogs the lines.no gas to begin with, replace tank or use a cheaper route, buy carburetor/fuel injector cleaner at a local store for $3,pour it in the tank (may need to buy it 4-6 diff times until the clogging stops).

I have read some where the stock ford injector are easly clogged and there are better injectors out there. Not sure if this applies to your gen of truck or not. Insalling a larger, better removable after market filter (before the stock filter)may help also. Take the tanks out and see if you can clean them. I`m surprised the pumps are still working. If this is your daily driver put some magnets on the tank where you think the pump is in tell you got more time to fix it right.
