Default 1987 F-150 Emblem Question

I've been trying to determine what trim level my truck is, and I've noticed that none of my emblems have what trim level it is. I was also looking through an LMC Truck catalog and noticed that none of the emblems offered matched the one on my truck (marked by arrow in picture). I was wondering if said emblem applies to a specific trim level or if it is because my truck is from 1987.

Use our forums VIN DECODER, this should give you all of the factory info about the truck.

That looks like a cheap replacement emblem, probably from ebay. Check the pass. side trim piece, skinny, long, goes from ~climate control to pass door, it should say (XL, XLT, Lariot, Custom)

These have a Ford part number on the back. No where does it say the trim level.

Very little information from the VIN decoder, pretty much just engine size.

then use this, door jamb sticker

#6 is the trim code

This only gives the interior trim options for the truck. A good reference is if you don't have a tach it's usually custom or XL, with tach is XLT or XLT Lariot.

Using a different decoder may supply you with the trim package you have, I've never used the one on this site. Google will help you find others.

My sticker is different, and I do have a tach, though I figured it was because of the manual trans.

Also, here's the emblem from my dash, which also has no reference to trim level.

I'm gonna guess here and say it was probably one of the earliest trucks produced when they changed the model, possibly even a concept truck.

It was produced in March of 1987, in Norfolk, VA. The options include A/C, vinyl floor, bench seat with arm rest, sliding rear window, dual tanks, door pockets, intermittent wipers (I think that was optional), & quad shocks. It has no headliner in it, but a previous owner may have removed it. One of the previous owners also spray painted the interior black, and actually didn't do too bad.
