Default 195 temp thermostat

Hey guys, I recently bought a 1992 5.8, auto, 2wd, single cab F-150. It has a coolant leak at the thermostat gasket so I知 going to go ahead and replace the hose, the gasket, and the thermostat all at once to have peace of mind. I prefer to use Motorcraft OEM parts, but I知 having trouble finding a 195 temp thermostat from motorcraft. There痴 plenty of 192 out there, would I be ok with that? I知 no expert so I知 not exactly sure all the differences.

Stant has plenty of 195 temp thermostat online, is Stant a trusted brand here?

thanks for any info, I致e already found great info for what I need to do on this forum but I wanted to know if you guys had any leads for the Motorcraft 195.

A 192 degree Motorcraft will be just fine. I like Stant brand thermostats also.

Stant is fine if you stick with their Superstat. There's a big difference in quality over their standard ones.

I went with the 192 motorcraft. Can’t wait to get to change them out and not have to worry about coolant leaks anymore. Hopefully haha.

Stant SuperStat is the bee's knees!!! I literally put one in everything I own if there is one available.

I run a Jet stainless steel body unit, it's a common choice for hot rods. The only downfall is I think it only comes in 180.

Hey guys, so I’m a little worried. I let the truck sit overnight to let the silicone i put in the gasket cure. And this morning I started to fill the truck up with coolant, when I went to start it up it made a horrible noise. It almost sounded like a screeching metal on metal noise. I connected everything back up, I double and triple checked. Did I do something wrong?

I drained coolant, took out the thermostat housing, installed the new thermostat, put the gasket with some sealant back in, and reinstalled it all. Then it sat overnight until now when I refilled the coolant and started it back up

I also want to add that I changed the oil last week and there hasn’t been any leaks at all

Little update, the shrieking noise I heard was the fan slicing through the upper radiator hose. From reading the forum I guess it’s a common issue. I zip tied the new hose to the intake tubes as a temporary fix
