When reinstalling the moulding on front windshield do the clips get installed into the moulding first, then the moulding put onto the truck? I also want to put some windshield sealant along the top. My guess is put down sealant first, then reinstall moulding with clips on before sealant totally dries? I dont want to break the moulding or clips. Thank you.

Hi my name is Missy I inherited a 1987 Ford f150 4.9 l from my stepdad when he passed away he had recently had the engine rebuilt from an overheating issue. He had only had it for a week before he passed away during that week it had died on him numerous times the battery kept draining so he replaced the battery alternator and starter solenoid. Sat for 8 months and then I try to drive it and it would just die on me consistently. With no money to have somebody repair it I decided to take his tools and the two manuals he had and dive in. Only experience I have is checking my own fluids in my vehicle. So bear with me if I don't use the correct terminology and and such. I had remembered him saying something about a short to ground so that's where I started. I found the short in the aftermarket stereo he put in so I fixed that then I moved on I had to replace the starter solenoid again and the ICM I believe was the reason that the truck kept dying on me,. In addition I had to put a new ignition switch in. I got it driving for about 8 months. I live in California so I need to smog it for the transfer of title and I don't know if it will pass smog the last time it failed four times and then it finally passed and I think it was something with the EGR valve. That's last time my step dad had smog done. So here's my problem I took it to go get it smogged and the guy couldn't do that day so I left it there with him and then they couldn't get it started turns out the starter solenoid went out I got there a week later jumped the solenoid started it and and I ended up leaving and then the truck started lurching and then it just died on me I was not able to restart it and I had it towed to my house and I've been trying to figure out what's going on with it. I've been here before it seemed like the same exact situation I was in before with the ICM I had the thermostat out for a little while because I was having overheating issues that's a long story but I put a new thermostat in and solve that but I believe that the ICM had gotten hot a few times so I figured that it it finally went out. I replaced that along with the coil. Would have done so far replace the starter solenoid again the ICM the coil. But I'm still at a crank no start I got it to fire up one time and the engine sounded really strange kind of like maybe like a lawn mower or something like it was missing kind of backfired a couple times I think the timing got out for some reason or other so I decided to try to reset the timing I could not find a spout connector anywhere on this truck. I'm assuming my step dad probably lost the piece or something like that and just wired it together I did it a continuity/resistance test from the pin 36 to number five on ICM the spout out just to see if there was a connection to the computer. The ohms reader just said one I don't really know what that means. To continue with the timing I pulled the number one spark plug found top dead center made sure the rotor was facing on one spark plug rotated the distributor so that everything was orientated properly and that's when it fired up but it sounded all crazy and I haven't been able to get it started since it cranks it sounds like it cranks pretty well a little fast but pretty well but it just doesn't start. I'm just kind of lost I don't even know where to go or what how to start or what to look at. I guess these engines don't have a timing chain that could have jumped right it's just a gear gears it looks like the pulley is warped I don't know how big of an issue that is? I know I'm kind of all over the place. My condition is a crank no start I have spark my my fuel pumps prime, I replaced solenoid ICM coil battery is good. I get codes of 15 14. 21 84. I did the test a second time 15 and 14 didn't show up just 21 and 84. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong there. If there's anybody that can help me with some advice or help here I greatly appreciate it. I suppose I should probably do a fuel pressure check and maybe a compression check? Distributor is bad maybe?

I have a 1993 single cab f150 xlt 5.0. I’m having a tough time diagnosing what’s going on. I’m having to spray just a touch of ether to crank it. It’s having a rough idle with a constant check engine light illuminating. It will backfire and almost stall out when I give it gas while in park. If I keep reving it for a a second it will clear out and rev normal. But once it’s in drive it will stumble and barely move and pop out the exhaust. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, the fuel regulator is about 6 months old, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, rotor button, ignition coil and ignition control module. I have fire as far as I can tell and I have 35psi on the fuel rail. Just don’t know where to go from here.

Hello all, my name is Gavin, I'm the proud owner of a 92' f150 flareside 4x4, with the 5.0 and e40d, I've been chasing little inconvenient problems since the day I got her, but the plan is to rebuild her part for part, so I was aware of what I was getting into. I've had a fuelling issue that I've been trying to solve, I've replaced the gas tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure relief valve, tps, IAC valve, the coil pack, and the map sensor for the speed density set up. I also did the spark plugs a few weeks ago and all of this has definitely helped "liven" her up a bit but she still is running super rich. I got my two diesel mechanic buddies to take a look over and one thing that threw them off was the way the exhaust manifold was configured to run on O2 sensor for both banks In a sort of triangle configuration (photos attached for reference)
Was just wondering if anyone with knowledge of these motors/trucks could give any insight to as to why they would do this? Truck has original motor and trans afaik, with 330,000km on it. I'm planning on pulling the motor to carb swap it but until then I'd like to get her running as best as I can. Also I will be manual swapping it was well, getting rid of as many electrical components as possible. Thanks for the help all!
I pulled over got a screwdriver and I aligned the shifter rails. They were very hard to move, but I got them to where I believed it was neutral. Start it up still in gear…had it towed to a shady shop that was the closest to me. “Shop” (I put that in quotes because they don’t even look like a shop)…. says I need a new transmission; I think it’s the shift forks….ideas? The trans worked flawlessly before, and 2 years ago I did the clutch (I put a Luk in) and the master and slave cylinder. No gears made noise before this except for the occasional grinding but that’s a problem between the steering wheel and seat….what do yall think? Go get a second opinion?

Y'all I need some advice. My daughter just turned 16 and we have been looking at vehicles for the inevitable future and just a few days ago as a joke I sent her a pic of an old 1977 C10 long bed that was for sale on the side of the road and she actually thought it was cool as heck but it was way to much of a project for us to take on. You see she's a country girl even more than I realized and she's loving the look of the old single cab truck's, she doesn't seemed phased that she won't have a bunch of technology or even power windows and locks for that matter.

This morning I found a 1996 F150 XL on marketplace in our budget. 100,000 miles inline 6 cylinder, new tires, breaks, break lines, fuel tank and lines. Interior and exterior are in good shape considering the age. It was this persons daily driver for the last 5 years so it's 100% road ready. The price seems fair for a vehicle of its age. They don't have it priced as if it's some sort of highly sought after collectable.

I'm pretty mechanically inclined especially on something this old because I don't have to deal with the new computer/electronics that control all the modern vehicles BUT how much of a money pit would something like this be? Could she legitimately drive a truck like this for 3-4 years with minimal maintenance before she's ready and able to upgrade or should we just be scrapping the idea all together and stick with something more modern? As a comparison we where looking at midsized AWD SUV's that where 10-12 years old with 150,000 miles on them.

Hello,
I'm working on a mid 90-s C6, with only 30,000 miles, it was my works old shop truck, it would sit for long periods of time.
So, the issue is, when you put in gear, d or 1st, it has no movement or engagement, as of now, when this first started, you could rev the motor and the trans would engage, now nothing, it went down hill fast.
The fluid is full, doesn't seem burnt or dark, or atleast the last time I looked at, but the truck is sitting at my place.
Any ideas what the issue is, I'm thinking maybe the seals in the pump went bad, and it's just dumping the fluid, not building pressure.

Thank you.
